Collection - Never-ending Babel

Never-ending Babel

The starting point of the collection is two different towers. One is 'Tower of Babel', which is an imaginary tower appearing in Bible. The other is the new highest tower called 'Sky Tree' in Tokyo, Japan. When I saw this Sky Tree under construction, it reminded me of the mythology of Tower of Babel. Then I realized skyscraper had been human's dream since long time ago and this would last forever. I tried to express people's vague, but never-ending hopes and dreams for the future that you feel when you look up a skyscraper.
In this collection, I particularly focused on texture and structure. I used technical, synthetic fabrics together with traditional wool and cotton fabrics to add futuristic elements. Some of them are processed in my own way. You can also see geometric and fluid forms consisting of architectural lines in each pieces.
